What or Who is the Myrn Bone?
It's the InterClub Golf Tournament named after Myrn Bone
which takes place every year
On a rotating basis with the clubs involved
In 1975 Myrn Bone was a member of the Toms River Country Club.
During that year, she contacted several clubs in the shore area to
foster and develop women’s InterClub team competition.
Myrn founded the Mid Jersey Shore Women’s Golf Association (MJSWGA).
Original teams in the association were from
Bamm Hollow
Battleground
Fort Monmouth
Old Orchard
Toms River
Woodlake
As a tribute to Myrn, the association held the First Annual Myrn Bone Golf Tournament in June 1976.
The tournament was held at Fort Monmouth Country Club and the entry fee was $15.00.
The tournament is usually held in June, but the date is chosen by the hosting club for that year's tournament,
rotating the location among the women’s clubs participating.
Myrn Bone’s last sentence in the letter she wrote thanking the chairperson of the
First Annual Myrn Bone Tournament was:
“Good luck, good health and good golf to all.”
