Lakewood Country Club WGL
Addendum to Executive Board Minutes – April 7, 2016
Treasurer’s Report:
A review of the budget by the President and Treasurer revealed that an erroneous charge to the Lakewood WGL bank account was the cause of the negative balance. This was rectified and thus the decision made at the Executive Board meeting of April 7 to pay only the first two places on the weekly games was deemed null and void. Payments will be made for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each flight for the 2016 season.
Also, the suggestion to ask members to pay for the end-of-season luncheon that the board approved will be discussed at a future Executive Board meeting as to its relevance at that time.

Lakewood Country Club WGL
Executive Board Minutes – April 7, 2016
Present:
Cookie O’Rourke, President
Dot Rodrick, Vice President
Vacant, Secretary
Cindy Pagano, Treasurer
Kathy Batzel-Galatola, Tournament Chair
Meeting was called to order by President O’Rourke
Opening Discussion: The minutes for this meeting were taken by Dot Rodrick. Until a secretary has been appointed, board members will rotate taking the minutes. Disappointment over the lack of participation in volunteering for officers and/or committee chairs to continue the running of the league is cause for concern. A general meeting will be held sometime in May seeking input from the membership as to the future of the league.
Treasurer’s Report: Cindy stated that the ending balance of last year was negative $238.50. Currently, there are 36 paid members for the 2016 season. There are five who will be sending in their money, and one who is believed to reup when she returns to the country. To date, we expect 42 members for 2016. As the budget will still be short after all fees are deposited, the board discussed a change to the distribution of the weekly game payments. The president proposed dropping payment of 3rd place for the weekly games. Dot seconded the proposal. The payments for longest drive and closest to the pin on a weekly basis will not change.
Cindy suggested that members pay for the season-ending-luncheon to cover the remaining shortfall of funds in the treasury. This suggestion was well received by the board members, and was approved by all.
Change in Rules: Dot distributed a copy of local rules to review. Regarding Hole #12, as the post indicating Hole #13 has been removed from the men’s T box, and this post was the guideline in Hole #12’s drop area, a discussion was held about setting up the league’s drop area with correct wording to define. Kathy will be working with Fran, head groundskeeper, and a new post will be planted at the base of Hole #13’s raised T box. The wording to reflect this change was made. Regarding Hole #14, BEWARE FOX HOLE was inserted in the description. Dot will make the changes and after approval will be given to Ann for posting on our website.
Handicaps: The handicap ranges for the A, B and C flights will remain the same as last year. There are 14 A’s (0-24); 15 B’s (25-30) and 13 C’s (31-36). Dot will be checking the posting of scores to make sure that when the handicaps change twice a month, the members have posted their scores.
Missing Plaques: Cookie talked about the missing President’s Cup plaque that was not found after having been on display at the end of season luncheon. No one seems to be able to come up with the missing plaque, and a new one will have to be purchased. The cost of the plaque is approximately $100.00.
Club Championship and President’s Cup: A review was made of the wording under Major Tournament Procedures. Changes were made to reflect that there are no flights in the President’s Cup (PC) tournament. For the Champion’s Cup (CC), the CC co-chairs shall place members in flights for the second and third rounds. For the PC, the hostess will mix foursomes for the 1st and 2nd rounds. Dot will make the changes and send to Ann for posting on our website.
Hostess: Kathy stated that the first T time on opening day, April 21, will be at 8:28 am. To date, 16 players have indicated they are playing. On May 26, the T times will start at 7:00 am due to an outing following our league. We will also have the Yellow Ball game on that date. Kathy has sent the weekly games schedule to Ann for posting. She indicated the T times for opening day play will also be posted on the website.
The women’s league has 10 T times allotted for weekly play. Cookie mentioned the importance of returning the unused T times to the pro shop in a timely fashion.
Miscellaneous: Dot spoke about the first InterClub match and how she thought assigning players who have been giving their time and expertise to the league a thank you by assigning them the first match on May 13. Lu (membership booklet and bulletin board); Kathy (hostess and tournament chair); Cookie (President and co-chair InterClub); Cindy (Treasurer); Ann (Website) and Dot (VP and co-chair InterClub) will make up the team for the first match.
Respectfully submitted,
Dot Rodrick
