New Rules of Golf--- Rules Clarifications--- Major Rule Changes
Rules Publications---Modified Rules
The basic changes are as follows:
dropping procedure, drop from knee height
measuring in taking relief, use longest club(no putter) to provide a consistant process in measuring 1 or 2 club-lengths depending on situation
removing a penalty for a double hit
Balls lost or OB, new local now available, permitting committees to allow golfers the option to drop ball in the vicinity of where the ball is lost or OB (including the nearest fairway area – under a 2 stroke penalty)
Elimination of “ball moved penalties”, when accidentally moving ball on putting green or in searching for a ball. Unless you are virtually certain you did so.
Relaxed putting green rules, no penalties if ball played from putting green accidentally hits an unattended flagstick in the hole. Player may putt without having the flagstick attended or removed. May repair spike marks and other damaged on green. And no penalty touching the line of putt.
Relaxed rules for “penalty areas”, no penalty for moving loose impediments or touching ground or water in a penalty area.
Relaxed bunker rules, no penalty to removing loose impediments in a bunker or generally touching the sand with a hand or club. But still can`t ground club next to ball in sand.
An extra relief option is added to Unplayable Lie in a bunker. Allowing a ball to be played from outside the bunker with a 2 stroke penalty.
Relying on player`s integrity, a player`s reasonable judgment when estimating or measuring a spot point, area or distance - will be upheld
Pace of Play support, reduced time for searching for lost ball 3 minutes. Encourage ready golf,
