Minutes of Executive Board Meeting: October 19, 2015
Present: Absent:
Cookie O’Rourke, President Dot Rodrick, Vice President
Ann Capelli, Secretary
Cindy Pagano, Treasurer
Brenda Klauber, Tournament Chair
We met at LCC-ladies locker room. Meeting began at 9:15 am
The first order of business discussed:
• Weekly Schedule Wording
To change/eliminate the word “Tournament” from “Weekly Games”.
In the past, the term “Tournament” was used too frequently. Now the Weekly Schedule will accurately distinguish between ‘Games’ and ‘Tournaments’. This should help members to be able to easily distinguish and post ghin scores as ‘Games’ or ‘Tournaments’. For example:
Club Championship, President’s Cup, and Golf Outings should be entered at “Tournaments” . Interclub games were deemed regular games by the Interclub Executive Board, following rules they follow: explanation
As with many USGA items there are decisions and explanations elsewhere. From BJ, current Interclub Board President:
Tournament are meant to be significant competitions where the players have a lot more riding on the outcome that usual. They should be limited to major events This is determined by the judgment of “the committee” which would be the Officers or the Board in our case. So again I would say we could determine that these are not Tournament scores.

Next:
• Major Tournament Procedures: Teachers vs. Non Teachers Members Eligibility
We discussed what we mean by teachers needing to have 5 weeks of golf and non – teachers 8 weeks of golf to qualify for Club Champion or Presidents Cup.
It was decided to change everyone’s requirement to 5 weeks only, starting from the beginning of the season.
The new wording:
“In order to be eligible for either the Club Championship or President’s Cup, a member must have played 5 rounds of weekly games at LCC before the Club Championship or President’s Cup occurs”
Next:
• Major Tournament Procedure: The Club Championship
We discussed the flights and the breakdown of number of members per flight and compared stroke differentials. Due to input from the membership, we have come up with a plan to equalize these differences. With this change, about 10 to 14 members are now in each group.
We will now have 4 groups competing, broken down by handicap, for this event only.
They will be named Robin, Bluebird, Cardinal and Oriole. Members will check the posted sheet to see which group she will be competing in. Again, for this Tournament only.
Robin Blubird Cardinal Oriole
Handicap: 1-19 20-25 26-31 32-36 and up
Places to be paid:
First=$40 First=$40 First=$40 First=$40
Second=$30 Second=$30 Second=$30 Second=$30
Third=$20 Third=$20 Third=$20 Third=$20
The Club Champion is the one person who has the lowest two weeks' score over the three week period, no matter what group they are in. Also, whatever group the Club Champion comes from will have a payout of $75 for the Club Champion and then $30 for second and $20 for third. All other groups without the Club Champion will have a payout of $40, $30 and $20.
• Club Invitational vs. Bring a Friend to Golf Day
It was decided to keep Bring a Friend to Golf Day. A Club Invitational was deemed to be too much work at this time.
• Letter to Ted and Fran Re: work on course during Club Championship and President’s Cup
To follow up on the suggestion made at the Final Luncheon,
“Could Temporary Greens and or work on the course be the same for everyone those days?”
A letter will be sent to both parties asking that if Temporary Greens are needed that day, that they stay that way for the whole day of golf, thus making it fair that all players play with the same difficulties. This involves 3 weeks in July and 2 weeks in August.
• Season Start Date
We will be starting April 21 and play through September 29 = 24 weeks
Hostess: $875 for 24 weeks (no change from last year)
• Response to request for reimbursement funds
It was decided to pay the requested amount, $35, for printer inks
Meeting adjourned at 10:43 am

President: Cookie O’Rourke
Vice President: Dot Rodrick
Secretary: Ann Capelli
Treasurer: Cindy Pagano
Hostess Chair: Brenda Klauber with help from Ann Capelli (previous chair)
Kathy Batzel-Galetola will remain as hostess.
All other committees had no reports or issues this year. All chairs will remain the same with the exception of Handicap Chair which will be taken over by Dot Rodrick next year.
President O’Rourke asked for changes to the By-laws as follows:
1. Section 3 MEMBERSHIP
D. (Currently) No new members shall be accepted after June 30th. All members will be responsible for paying for their GHIN membership. Membership money will NOT be refunded for any reason after June 30th.
D. (New) New members shall be accepted at any time. A new member must have played a minimum of 5 weekly games to be eligible for the Club Championship or President’s Cup. All members will be responsible for paying for their GHIN membership. Membership money will NOT be refunded for any reason after June 30th.
Carol Vignevic motioned to accept the change, second by Mary Fenton, all approved.
2. ARTICLE VI GOLF RULES AND REGULATIONS
C. (Currently) all matched and weekly tournaments must be played in groups designated. All holes are played from the red markers.
C. (New) All Matches and weekly games must be played in groups designated. All holes are played from the forward markers.
Kathy Batzel-Galatola motioned to approve the change, second by Dot Rodrick, all approved.
A question was asked about attendance, whether to consider the previous year or the current year since some people come back late from Florida. Cheryl Williams suggested starting counting eligible weeks of attendance after the Club Championship. Executive Board will consider.
A discussion also ensued about the aerating of greens during our Club Championship. It was suggested that we ask the golf course to inform us of the weeks that they will be aerating. It was discussed how during this season’s CC that some groups played from a temporary green while others played from an aerated green on the same day. President O’Rourke will send a letter to the management about this, certainly not to change the greens during a tournament. President O’Rourke explained how difficult it is to work with the greens supervisor.
A discussion was ensued about not having flights for prize monies, rather to pick a certain number of winners from the entire group. Many were not in favor of this suggestion.
Jan Minneci suggested that next year we have four flights for the CC. Executive Board will take this up at a later date.
Carol Baron motioned to adjourn the meeting, second by Kathy Batzel Galatola, all in favor and the meeting was adjourned at 3:30 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Janice Minneci, Secretary

Absent: Dot Rodrick, Vice President
The meeting was called to order at 1:10 pm.
Cookie reported that we now have 44 members. A discussion ensued as to when we should have the cut-off date for accepting applications for more members. Ann stated that in our by-laws we do have a cut-off date of June 30th. Since our membership has been declining it was proposed that we amend this date to allow for more members. Also if someone should join after the June 30th date, they will not be eligible for the two major tournaments. Cookie will send out an e-mail asking members to vote on this amendment. A two thirds majority would allow the amendment to stand. Ann suggested that a non-response would be considered a yes vote. This information will also be included with the e-mail for the amendment.
Cookie gave a list of the proposed handicap divisions. A flight will be 10-24, B flight will be 25-30, and C flight will be 31-36. This list has the most equal amount of members in each flight.
Nancy handed a list of the proposed budget. Discussion ensued. It was decided to not pay out three places for each flight in the Club Championship. This will save $60.00. All agreed. Should changes be needed, the budget will be re-visited later on in the season.
It was also decided that any of our major championships; i.e. Club Championship and the President’s cup shall be posted to GHIN as a tournament score.
A discussion ensued on a player disqualifying themselves during play. Questions arose as to the legality of disqualification. All agreed that we can make this a league rule. It was decided that we should include instructions in our booklet as to how a disqualification should work. All agreed that we didn’t want to promote disqualifying but in some cases it may be needed. Questions also arose as posting a disqualifying round on GHIN. This matter will be looked into. It was also decided by all that if someone should disqualify themselves in a group tournament that a blind will be pulled for that person.
Ann will change tournament order on the web. It was also decided to have a “Bring a Friend Day” on July 9, 2015. We will also run a 50/50 that day to help aid the budget.
Interclub dates were also announced.
The group decided that we should have the booklets printed as has been done in previous years. Since there is a little wiggle room in the budget, and the printing will be $60.00, it was agreed to have the booklets printed. All agreed.
Meeting was adjourned at 2:11 pm.
