Minutes Opening Breakfast April 19, 2012
President, Cookie O’Rourke welcomed all at the breakfast. She introduced the executive board; Vice President, Dot Rodrick, Secretary, Jan Minneci, Treasurer, Nancy Goss, and Katie Wauters, Tournament Chairperson. She explained to all members that any decisions will be made by the executive board and to please not expect any instant decisions.
She then thanked Ann Capelli for her excellent work on our golf league web site.
President O’Rourke told all that the minutes from the fall luncheon have been posted on our web site, and asked for any corrections or additions. None were made. Diane Steinmetz motioned to accept the minutes, second by Gerri Bleach. All in favor none opposed.
She then explained about Rally 4 Ali that the course is running on May 3rd. It is to benefit a daughter of one of the maintenance men who was diagnosed with cancer. There will be a 50/50 for $10.00 a piece. President O’Rourke asked for a show of hands of how many girls will play in this tournament. Eleven gals raised their hands showing that they would play.
The President then went on to explain rule changes. On hole #11, there will no longer be a free drop from the berm that runs across the fairway. On hole #12, the drop area will be marked on the left side of the green in the rough. On hole #14, there will be no relief from the long grass patch that is in the fairway, except
for when the casual water rule comes into play. On hole #15, the drop area will be at end of the of the bridge, two club lengths from the end. There will be a picture posted on our web site for better clarification.
She then told the girls if there is any question about rules during play to play two balls, and keep score for both. Then Anne Benedict or Carol Smith should be e-mailed the question.
There are new major tournament rules and they are now listed in the booklet.
Treasurer, Nancy Goss read the treasurer’s report. Ending balance as of 10/1/11 was $548.99, deposits, dues, refunds total $3,914.90 which leaves a balance of $4,463.89. Anne Benedict moved to accept the treasurer’s report, second by Dot
Rodrick. All in favor none opposed.
Anne Capelli talked about the member guest tournament. Our league did not run a member guest last year. Anne Capelli, Jessie Lesko, and Meredith Holt would like to bring this back to our club. The tentative date is June 28. 2012, and the cost per golfer will be $80.00 per golfer. Anne asked for a show of hands of who would be interested in bringing this tournament back. A majority of the members present raised their hands.
Bonnie Beck, handicap chairperson, said that the ghin revision dates are the same, every other week. There are some members that their ghin is still inactive.
President O’Rourke also thanked Stella Kim, and Diane Haviland for the excellent job they did with setting up the breakfast and first day of golf.
