Minutes and emails issued from our Executive Board:
Lakewood ladies,
Those interested.... Golf will be open in NJ with the following restrictions:
• T-time of 2 people only
• T-times @ 16 minutes apart
• Separate carts / walk or push carts
• Pre-pay reservations by internet or phone
• Pro shop and club house will be closed with no access
• No bathrooms / port a johns
• No rakes, benches, ball washers or water coolers
• No touching flagsticks or holes
• No bag drops
• Every club must adhere to executive order and may have other restrictions (Governor Murphy has warned that he could order parks/golf courses closed again if residents can not adhere to the social distancing and courses required to keep their buildings and pro shops closed.)
• Social distancing is in effect
• Face coverings are not ordered but recommended
Lakewood has informed us the above restrictions will be put into place.
Because of the restrictions, the EX BD does not see it possible to continue with the league, games and procedures as we know it. We feel it will be cumbersome if not impossible to control the T-times and twosomes as a league.
So, we will be sending out the members contact list, and encourage anyone that feels comfortable playing under these restrictions to make their own arrangements. Tee times can be made 5 days in advance. For those considering playing, the concern of no bathrooms on the course or in the pro shop may be an issue.
We will reassess the situation if the restrictions/conditions change within a reasonable time for our season to continue.
...Otherwise, we will just put this season on pause and look to the 2021 season (when we will be hosting the Myrn Bohn tournament). Again, if you would like a refund of 2020 dues, please let me know, otherwise dues will just carry over to next year.
Be well and stay safe,
Jo Ann, Pauline, Eileen, and Kathy BG

Email issued by the President to League April 26, 2020:
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is well and safe as we adjust to our new environments, during this virus outbreak. I like everyone is hoping that soon we can begin to see a positive turn with this pandemic.
Not knowing when our state will allow the opening of recreational activities or golf courses, the Mid-Jersey Shore Women's Golf Association has canceled this years Myrn Bone tournament. As you know we were hosting this event, and will have the honor of hosting for the 2021 season.
Miss playing and seeing everyone so, Stay at home, practice six-foot social distancing, and send prayers to all people working hard to fight this coronavirus.
Be Well,
Jo Ann
Kathy BG and the Executive Board

Email issued by Hostess to League May 20,2020:
Ladies,
The Executive Board would like to give you an update on the status of the league. We know the Governor is lifting more restrictions and will allow golf courses to send foursomes out BUT…. Still single riders if not family members in the same household …. and we still have to continue social distancing.
I spoke with Ted at Lakewood and he indicated that the Pro Shop will still be closed (so no restrooms with running water) but the Porta Pots ARE out on the golf course. With the Locker Room closed it would be difficult to operate the league the way we have in the past.
The Executive Board has decided that until the Pro Shop and locker room is available for our use, we should continue playing on our own and not in league play.
What I would be willing to do is…..
On a weekly basis, compile a list of those that want to play the following Thursday and forward those names out to our members so you can see who is available to play and you can create your own twosome/foursome. Within your group, you will have to make your own tee time and be responsible for calling in any cancellations. My only responsibility would be to compile the list of names, based on weekly emails and send that list out. I cannot guarantee that anyone will reach out, but at least you will know who is available to play. I am attaching an updated list of our members phone numbers. We do have some new Ladies that would like to join our league and would like to join up with other members during this time. I have added their names and numbers to the list.
We are hoping that we can still salvage some league play but will wait to see how/when the state will open up a little more. We will continue to monitor the situation and will send updates as we have something to report.
Thank You
Kathy BG

Email issued by Hostess to League March 18,2020:
Ladies,
Below and attached are season reminders/ I have also attached our By Laws, Members Handbook and Local Rules. Printed copies will not be available.
We currently do not know how the Coronavirus will be affecting procedures at the golf course. As we get closer to our start date, I will forward any information I receive from the Pro Shop Manager, Ted Misa.
A few reminders for our returning players and information for our new members:
The Executive Board would like to Welcome our NEW members and Welcome Back to our returning members. If you have NOT paid your dues yet, please mail a check made out to LCC-WGL for $80 to JoAnn ASAP or bring a check on Opening Day. If you have not renewed your GHIN, please do that as soon as possible.
For opening day, April 16, we will have a team scramble. Please let me know if you plan to play as soon as possible. If there is anyone in particular you would like to play with the first week, please let me know so I can set you up on that team. Several of the ladies stay for lunch after golf, it’s a good time to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. Each week Tee times for the current week will be posted to the LCC-WGL webpage at: http://lcc-wgl.weebly.com on the Tuesday/Wednesday prior to golf.
Please arrive at the course ½ hour prior to your tee time. This will give you time to check-in and in case we tee off earlier than expected, you will not be rushing to get to the tee box when your group is called. (In the past, there have been times in the hot weather we are able to tee off earlier than our scheduled tee times). Your group should be checked-in with the starter (near the 1st tee) prior to your tee time so the Starter does not have to look for your group. If you are not there when it is time for your group to tee off, they will go out without you.
When you check-in, please check your name off on the “Attendance Sheet”. It also helps if you check your name off on the current “Tee Time” sheet. This indicates to the rest of your group that you are at the course. If you plan to play the following week, place a check mark by your name on the “Playing Next Week” sheet posted in the locker room.
Remember to list any “Chip-Ins”, “Birdies” and “Low Putts” you had on the sheet in the locker room for that round of golf and add the appropriate “sticker” to your name on the bulletin board.
AS A REMINDER, THE NEW WORLD GOLF HANDICAPPING SYSTEM RQUIRES THAT SCORES BE ENTERED ON THE DAY OF THAT ROUND OF GOLF. MEMBERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR POSTING THEIR SCORES ON THE DAY OF GOLF.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank You

Email from the President issued by Hostess to League March 10 2020:
Hi Ladies of Lakewood,
We hope everyone is well and looking forward to the 2020 golf season
We wanted to reach out to our members with the latest news from your board.
Brenda Klauber, our Treasurer will not be returning this season. The Klauber’s will become permanent residents in the state of Florida. Brenda will be returning for a few weeks in May to finalize their move, and has promised to join us after golf for lunch if time allows.
As you know Brenda has been instrumental in helping our league grow with membership, and being financially stable for the last few years. The EX BD will miss Brenda’s presence and expertise with helping us be so successful.
This now leaves the Treasurer position open for the start of the golf season. Eileen Z. has graciously volunteered to take over the treasurer duties, as well as her secretary duties, until a replacement can be found.
We are asking any members if they would be interested in filling the position of treasurer or secretary, to please contact us. We need the help.
Our league has the best group of ladies that like to play golf, laugh, chat, drink, and eat lunch every Thursday. Let’s all work together to make the Lakewood ladies golf 2020 season a great one.
Reminders:
The season opens on April 16, 2020.
Myrn Bone hosts June 25, 2020
Thanks,
Jo Ann, Pauline, Kathy BG, Eileen, Brenda (she is not gone yet)

Jan 19, 2020
Attendees: JoAnn, Pauline, Kathy, Dot, Diane and Eileen
Discussed Myrn Bohn tournament. Date selected June 25th. Theme: "Show Your Colors”. Reviewed budget breakouts provided by Dot and Diane. Costs have gone up and so far the entrance fee of $85 will only cover the golf fees and Maggies. Cost: $52 for golf and $33 for food = $85. Need to confirm, in writing, cost of golf. Already have contract with Maggies for food. Breakfast food to be served are bagels, muffins, fruit, and coffee; there will be white table cloths with different color napkins to represent the various leagues. We will need a large turn out to help with costs. The Mid-Jersey Shore Women's Golf Association did supply $700 in seed money for the tournament. We discussed whether that money needed to be returned. We will be responsible for covering the costs of the payouts to winners in tournament. To raise money, we will have a 100 box pool, with prizes of each golf club offering a free foursome. It will be necessary to sell as many as possible. Discussed other ways to raise funds with 50/50s both during our season and on the day of the event. Mention was made that last year Bea Lea had fund raisers during the previous year to help with costs. There will be no other raffles, drawings or gifts on the day of the tournament. Looking at payouts of 3 flights, 3 low gross and 3 low net; overall winner and winner of Par 3 games. June 5th will be the cut-off date for handicaps; April 1st to send out flyer with May 2nd and June 1st to send out reminders Will plan to borrow money from Treasury to make up payout envelopes in advance. We will encourage all our members to participate and/or volunteer for the event. Discussed various duties for preparation as well as the day of the tournament which included tasks such as ensuring all golfers bags have tags/names.
Additionally, we discussed the new handicap system and due to the new guidelines, Dot agreed that members need to report their scores immediately after the round of golf. It will no longer be Dot's responsibility to enter weekly scores.
